England Cricketers Rally Behind Moeen Ali After Anti-Islamic Hatemonger Taslima Nasreen’s ‘ISIS’ Remark Against Him

Cricketer Moeen Ali’s English teammates have rallied around him after anti-Islamic hatemonger Taslima Nasreen targeted him with an offensive tweet. The post by the Bangladesh-born vagabond author said: “If Moeen Ali were not stuck with cricket, he would have gone to Syria to join ISIS”.

The despicable tweet by the low-grade author evoked widespread angry reactions with top England cricketers such as Jofra Archer and Sam Billings registering their outrage.

Jofra Archer wrote, “Are you okay ? I don’t think you’re okay.”

Reacting to her tweet explaining that her previous remark was “sarcastic”, Archer wrote, “Sarcastic ? No one is laughing , not even yourself , the least you can do is delete the tweet.” Another teammate of Ali, Sam Billings, tweeted, “Please everyone report this account.”

“Can’t believe this. Disgusting tweet. Disgusting individual”, wrote England fast bowler Saqib Mahmood.

Sam Billings asked people to report Nasreen’s account.

“This is the problem with this app. People being able to say stuff like this. Disgusting. Things need to change, please report this account!” England batsman Ben Duckett tweeted.

born in Birmingham in 1987, Moeen Ali is a Muslim. “I want people to know I am Muslim and British and proud of both. I want Asian kids to look at me and realise that they, too, can enjoy a career in cricket,” he was quoted as saying by Wisden two years ago.

The 33-year-old all-rounder will play for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL), starting on Friday.
