Deoband Ulama Won’t Solemnise Marriage With Dowry, Loud Music

Ulama from Darul Uloom Deoband have launched a countrywide campaign against the practice of dowry, use of loud music and crackers during wedding ceremonies. They have said that they will not solemnise nikah in such functions.

The decision was taken after an imam in Shamli district refused to solemnise the nikah, after seeing the groom grooving to the music over the roof of a car.
