Mumbai Cyber Police has written to YouTube to initiate action against the channel ‘If vs But’ following a complaint by a city-based advocate alleging that it posts falsehood and hate content against Islam and Muslims.
Adv Saif Alam has filed a compliant with the Cyber Police under sections 153 (A) 153 (B) 504 505 (1) 505 (2) 295 (A) of Indian Penal Code and 67 of IT Act demanding permanent ban on the account.
The complaint said that the channel is anonymous and instigates hatred towards Muslims by making “derogatory and venomous” videos about Islam. It further says that the videos published by the channel intends to promote enmity and hatred between communities and goes against the secular fabric of the country.
‘If Vs But’ has 1.43 million subscribers, and mostly publish derogatory videos against Islam, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and Muslim women.
Over the past several days several social media users have shown shown resentment towards the channel and are asking people to report the channel.
A similar case was also filed against the channel in Hyderabad to take against the content creators.
A petition has also been started on Change.org, urging YouTube and remove the channel from its platform. The petition has garnered more than 1 lakh signatures so far.
