Bengaluru: Govt Public Bus Decorated With Saffron Flags, Removed After Complaint

A public bus belonging to the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) was seen decorated with saffron flags bearing the Hindu religious symbol Om. The flag is also associated with and used by Hindutva groups.

A passenger took to Twitter to raise a complaint on “communalizing of govt vehicles”. “#JUSTIN: Morning Trvales in @BMTC_BENGALURU bus seems Saffronization is spreading vastly in every Sector. Communalizing govt vehicles will leave a bad Impact on its fellow citizens,” Syed Mueen said.

“The conductor ignored me and did not respond when I enquired about the flags,” Mueen told The Cognate.

The BMTC took note of the complaint and removed the flags. Sharing a picture of the bus, they said a complaint has been registered and due action initiated.
