A video created by a team of students of the Department of Social Work, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has bagged the first prize in the ‘Regional Level Video Competition for COVID-19 Awareness in various Regional Languages/Dialects in Uttar Pradesh’.
The team comprised of Kapil Sharma, Nijda Zehra, Tanvi Gautam, Ilma Parveen and Anuj Sharma, all in the first year of a post-graduation program course in social work at DSW, AMU.
The video revolves around the idea of confronting an increasingly urgent challenge in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
The video was made to participate in the video competition of the National Coordinating Institution – IIT Delhi under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan for the region-wise celebration of the 75th Independence Day (Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav) throughout the country which had experts from IIT Delhi and Regional Coordinating Institutions (RCIs) as judges.
“This is our effort to spread awareness and sensitize masses about this deadly virus. The video reflects the importance of vaccinations, hand sanitization, face masks, maintaining social distancing and bashing the rumours and myths around vaccination” Nijda one of the team members told The Cognate.
She said, “If this video can reach to masses, it can bring little yet significant changes. And there will be no harm if it can bring a big change”.
“This is the least we can do on our part. This is our first step towards change, being social workers. We aspire to bring many significant changes in the society”, she added.
Prof Naseem Ahmad Khan, Chairman, Department of Social Work and Nodal Officer, Unnat Bharat Abhiyan expressed their greetings and wishes to the students and their efforts.
They said, “We are very proud of our students and their efforts, through which they are trying to create awareness among people. I wish them more success in future endeavours”.
A certificate and some cash prizes have been announced by Prof. V. Ramgopal Rao, Director IIT Delhi in a virtual address joined by all the participants. The team is yet to receive the e-certificate.
